Logistics

Located in the heart of Illinois and the heart of America, the Illinois Valley sits at the crossroads of two major highways, Interstate 80, and east/west route that stretches from New York to San Francisco, and Interstate 39, and north/south route that links Winnipeg, Canada, to the Gulf of Mexico. Other major highways include U.S. Route 6 and U.S. Route 52, plus there are also a number of state routes that serve the area.

Rail transportation is also available, with five railroads serving the area, and water transport is another option. The 273-mile long Illinois River flows through our region, and there are a number of barge facilities on the river to accommodate the barge traffic on this busy waterway.

We also have a regional airport, the Illinois Valley Regional Airport, Walter Duncan Field, which has a 6,000' x 100' hard-surfaced runway and a 4,000' x 75' cross-wind runway. Though not a commercial airport, the Illinois Valley Regional Airport can accommodate any size of business aircraft as well as cargo and charter planes. Chicago's O'Hare International Airport is approximately 99 miles away, and Chicago Midway is about 90 miles away. Other airports in the region include those in Rockford, the Quad Cities, Bloomington and Peoria
