Utica is a charming town along the Illinois River, northeast of the Lock & Dam no. 6. Filled with a rich history and built on tradition, the quaint town is just south of Interstate 80 and situated on the north side of the Illinois River. Just over the bridge is one of Illinois’ most visited state parks, Starved Rock State Park. The park has seen record visits of over 2 million in 2013 and 2014. Other state parks in the area include Matthiessen State Park, and Buffalo Rock State Park. The large amount of visitors to the state parks can find more than adequate accommodations at Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center and Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort.
